Canadian fan’s experience meeting her fave Twilight actor: Jackson Rathbone!

We received an e-mail from a very giddy and excited Canadian Twilighter a few days ago, who shared the amazing details of her experience meeting Jackson Rathbone at an 100 Monkeys concert this week! Bev wanted to share her story with all you other Canadian Twilighters out there. Maybe you can pick up a few pointers ;)

When Bev found out that 100 Monkeys was going to be playing near her, she was ecstatic and her and her husband Dave went in early to make sure they could snag some seats up front. Her husband went to chat with Jackson asking if it was alright to take a quick shot with Bev, and he suggested staying after the show to take a subtle picture.

Around 11:30-ish pm, I was walking to the washroom when I saw Kellan Lutz coming in. He was such a hunk. Then I was by the bar waiting to order some drinks when I saw 5-6 of the cast beelining it outside. They were all holding hands to make sure they can get through the crowd. Jackson was at the front, followed by (not in order) Kellan, Taylor Lautner, and I think Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed. Or possibly Ashley Greene. I’m not sure; they were walking fast. They walked right by me and I was just so happy to see them all.

But Bev patiently waited until the end of the show so she could go and chat with Jackson, who she longed to meet the most.

I went up and introduced myself, shook his hand and told him I was a huge fan. I think I held onto his hand the whole time I chatted with him heehee =) I said to him: “It’s so nice to meet you, my name is Bev, I’m a huge fan, you do awesome work, I hope you’re having a good time in Vancouver.” He was sooo nice and sweet =) We chatted for a bit, I honestly don’t remember all the details it was soooo surreal and I was soooo lost in his deep blue-green eyes and soft Southern drawl and he just had such a nice, calming, serene presence around him. We talked about the show a bit, I kept saying: “You guys were soooo awesome tonight!!!” He introduced me to his band member; at this point Dave was talking to them as well. Then I leaned in and asked in his ear: “Is it OK if I get a picture with you?” and he goes: “Yeah for sure.”

But then these 3 girls came and started talking to him. So I waited patiently and started talking to this girl beside me. The 3 girls kepy chatting with him, but once in a while he’d look my way, our eyes would meet and we’d share a smile, and I’d tell him with my eyes it’s OK I’ll wait til the girls leave before i get my picture.

Finally they left, so I went up to him again and said: “Can I get that picture now?” And he said: “Yeah!” So I waved Dave over and he came with the camera. I chatted with him for a little bit, about their band being based in LA, etc, etc… Then I knew it was time for goodbye. So I said: “Can I ask for a hug?” And he smiled and was like: “Yeah for sure!” And he gave me a nice big warm hug it was sooo sweet =)

[Thanks to Bev for the story!]

Want a chance to appear in our first ever YouTube video!?

Hey people!
Here’s a little peek at something we’ve been working very hard on;

We will soon be launching our very first YouTube video *gasp*.  Just to put it out there: our channel is not going to be related to TwiCanCon or the petition. This our way of expressing our love for the Twilight Saga (which is pretty darn huge, I must say).

Here’s where you guys come in. We’re in the midst of filming and editing (editing takes so freakin’ long! kudos to all you accomplished twitubers, it’s a lot of work!) and there’s a clip that we would really like but need your help to get! With all you creative and passionate Twihards out there, we are looking for some volounteers.

We need a short clip (around 10-15 seconds) of a large amount of Twilighters just screaming their heads off. Easy enough? The more people the better, we need the *Twilight effect*, show some love. You can be wearing Twilight tees, holding posters, however you like. So gather up all your Twilighter friends for a little squealing session and send it our way. We will choose the clip that bests suits our video.

For legal purposes, you must be 18 years old or older to enter or have parental consent if you are under age. Your video will not be accepted otherwise.

Please include the following in your email: name, age and e-mail address. Please attach your video entry as a file. All entries can be sent to: twicancon@hotmail.com. We will notify you by e-mail if your video is chosen

Twitube here we come!

Ilana (:

CLARIFICATION: If you aren’t able to come across a large group of Twilighters for the video but only a few, that’s good too! If we get it enough videos, we can put them all together. So start on those videos! We need them asap.

DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY APRIL 8th, 2009

Twilight Is Mine, All Mine!

Hey there Twilighters,

Sooo… how is everyone enjoying their DVDs? I know I’m definitely enjoying mine. I think I’ve watched the movie 4 times this past weekend. Call me crazy; I’ll gladly agree. Now that Twilight is mine forever, I cannot get enough!

The special features are awwwesome! The extended scenes were really interesting to see, I really wish some of them would have made it to the movie. Anybody else almost pee themselves when Bella started talking about the chinchilla droppings? And what about those steamy deleted scenes? I only have one word: DAYUM. The commentary with Rob, Kristen and Catherine was so freaking hilarious! When I thought I couldn’t possibly love Rob any more, he went and started speaking french. “C’est un bouffon, n’est-ce pas?” Hahaha! Silly Rob…

Chapters, Pointe Claire, Quebec, March 20th: What a fun night :D We had such a blast Friday night at Chapters celebrating the release of our beloved Twilight on DVD. Looking around, there must have been about 250 people there. We got there bright and early so we can have a good spot. There was a big flat-screen set up with huge speakers. Blankets were set out on the floor and a bunch of Twilighters camped out, eagerly waiting to see their favorite movie once again after many Twilightless months.

Watching the movie was all the fun. When the movie began and the word “Twilight” appeared on screen, there was cheering. When Edward walked into the cafeteria in slow motion, every girl in the room was swooning. And when Edward and Bella kissed, there were many a squeals (including one from me).

And when it was all over, we left with our DVDs in hand, a bunch of new friends and huge smiles on our faces. It was an awesome night and I have the absolute best souvenirs to remember it by :)

Taryn

SHOUTOUT FROM ILANA: Haha, hey guys! Even though this is Taryn’s post I thought I’d creep on and just say that I had a freaking good time as well (:

Member updates and my rant on Canadian Twilighter equality

Contrary to popular belief, Canada is not a snow-filled wasteland where we ride our polar bears to school and sleep in igloos (though I’m not gonna lie, I’ve used the word ‘eh’ one time too many…), we Canadians are very much like our neighbors in the U.S. Therefore, shouldn’t we deserve to have the same amount of Twilight lovin’ as them?! It’s particularly unfair for a resident of Quebec. I get all worked up over a Twilight contest until I take a look at the fine print: “Open to residents of the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec)” Apparently the reason behind this is a long and complicated process involving the French speaking rights and a variety of other things which did nothing to raise my spirits.

Back at the beginning of the year, when I was in serious need of a Twilight shirt to proudly wear at the midnight movie showing, the only ones I could find were from the U.S. I had to have my lovely Twilight tees sent to my American relatives and then sent my way.

However, at a recent trip to the mall I was surprised at the abundance of Twilight-esque merchandise they had on the racks. They may not all bare the official logo we all know and love, but I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking. Shirts like “my valentine sparkles” and “give blood, date a vampire” definitely caught my attention. I’ve seen a lot of questions and concerns on forums and groups asking where to find merch in Canada, so I’ve put together a list of some of them to help you guys out:

TWILIGHT MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE IN CANADA

When I found this Bella and Edward cutout at HMV, I just couldn’t resist…

Fan-made logos – check out the new ‘logos’ section of our blog! If you have a logo you’ve created for Twi-Can, send it in and we’ll post it. For more details, scroll down to the bottom of the logos page.

Dance theme – in this week’s discussion topic, we’re asking you guys for original dance theme ideas for the convention. If you have a suggestion, let us know!

We’re on TA!?

Hi there Twifans,

Well today at around 2 pm, I went to do my daily check on Twilighters Anonymous. I opened up the news blog and BOOM! There it was. Our proud little Twi-Can logo in really really really big. Right there. On TA. First thing. It completely slipped my mind that we e-mailed them the night before. Silly me… It was so exciting, though! Like I was just doing my daily do’s and then it’s like “Hey, wait a second, isn’t that me?” It was truly great. Yes yes it was. I think I even might’ve squealed a little.

The first time we were on TA, we were only featured in their Odds and Ends. This time, we got a whole thing to ourselves! IT. WAS. AWESOME. You guys can go ch-ch-check it out here:

http://twilightersanonymous.com/canada-twilight-convention-update-twi-can.html

Also, for all you groupies (and by that I mean people in the Facebook group, ehehe), if you haven’t noticed yet, we’re posting new discussion board topics every week to get to know our members better. Cause we heart you :)

Also, I loooove the e-mails. Every time I see an new e-mail in the inbox, I get so excited. I’ll always answer a good e-mail. So if you got anything to say, say it. :) It’ll make me happy cause I’m one of those people that get amused by the smallest things. I’m special X)

Anyways, thanks everyone for all the support! Keep it coming!

TwiCanCon

Hey Twilighters!

About a month ago, we came up with an idea that somehow hadn’t made its way into the Twilight fandom so far. It seemed as if Canada would be excluded in the ever-growing list of locations for Twilight conventions. So we decided to do something about it. On January 11th we created a petition for a Canadian Twilight convention on Facebook, explaining to the fans our goal and what we wished to accomplish. The outcome was outstanding and in less than two weeks we had more than 1000 members! Never underestimate Twilighters!! One of life’s many lessons. xP

We’re now nearing 2000 and we’ve been featured on a number of websites/blogs (including Twilighters Anonymous, Twilight Novel Novice, Bella and Edward.com, Edward Cullen Source and Peace. Love. TWILIGHT!). We’ve been getting a lot of great ideas and feedback from the fans! We decided to create this blog as an alternate way of keeping up to date on Twi-Can’s activity. We’ll be posting polls and other ways of making sure that it’s the Twilighters who are being represented. :)

Check out the Facebook petition here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=127666565144
